George's VIP Launch Night - Chellaston, Derby.

I was kindly asked to attend the launch night for the new George's in Chellaston.
If you're from Derby/Nottingham you may know George's Tradition as the fish and chip shop that has grown in numbers since opening in the late 60's.

The new takeaway in Chellaston is set to be the 'fish and chip shop of the 21st century'.
As I walked into the venue, the first thing that stuck out to me was the interior. It was so crisp and had lots of little quirks that you don't get in the other George's.

If you want to sit in, there are a few tables.
The decor definitely gives off seaside vibes. The colours are kept simple but kept exciting with plenty of writing and quotes on the walls.

We were also treated to some live music.

When it came to food, we were kept guessing with a list of what we would be getting in a selection box.
Another thing that's different about here is that they serve alcohol! I can imagine that it will be lovely to sit and enjoy your food with a nice cool beer and soak up with atmosphere that's created.
It wasn't long before dinner was served. On first glance, it looked great!
We were treated to: Chicken Wings, Halloumi Wrap, Pulled Pork Wrap, Scampi in Coriander & Chilli Batter, Norwegian Cod Goujon, Sweet Potato Fries, Chunky Chips, Fish Pakora's with Mint and Coriander Dip.

My favourite was the sweet potato fries. Normally when I have had these before, I haven't liked them but the ones that I had here were amazing. They remained crispy which is usually the problem! I had a chat with the owner of George's who said it's because they keep things simple. They don't add things to the potatoes which seems to be the secret to it!
The halloumi wrap is a good choice too!

All of the food within the selection box was very tasty and really well made.
These are real items that will be available in the fish and chip shop when it opens in a couple of weeks.
It was really good to see a wider variety of food on the menu. Plus, all of it is made freshly to order which means that the quality will always be top notch.

Here's a few more pictures of the night as it went on...

It was a really fun night and was amazing to be one of the first to sample the delicious food that the new George's has to offer.
If you're from the area or passing sometime, It's worth a visit for sure.

When the evening came to an end, we were handed a little goody bag and were on our way.

Thanks for a great night George's!
